Preambulatory Clauses
Preambulatory clauses form the introduction of a Model UN resolution. They state the reasons why the committee is addressing the topic, cite past international actions, and reference the UN Charter or previous treaties.
Grammar and Formatting Rules:
- Each clause must begin with a present participle (an "-ing" word or phrase).
- The opening preambulatory phrase must be italicized or underlined.
- Every preambulatory clause must end with a comma (,).
